TEST DAY KART SPECIFICATIONS

The kart must conform to the following specifications -

Direct Drive*

1.  Be of an engine and chassis type used within the last 15 years.

2.  Have bodywork front rear and both sides.

3.  Have a performance less than 30 bhp.

4.  Carry a number on a number plate at the front and rear of the kart

Gearbox*

1.  Be of an engine and chassis type used within the last 15 years.

2.  Have bodywork front rear and both sides.

3.  Have a performance less than 80 bhp.

4.  Carry a number on a number plate at the front and rear of the kart

* The only exceptions to the above are vintage karts.

The use of the kart must conform to the following

1.  The kart must not enter the circuit until the driver or drivers has/have signed on and paid the appropriate fee(s). 

2.  The kart must be used in a manner appropriate to the skills of the drivers sharing the track with them.

3.  If the kart is being used by a person who is paying the owner for the drive then the owner MUST have suitable insurance for such a transaction.  Proof of a suitable insurance may be requested.

4.  Similarly if demonstration or test drives are taking place those offering these drives MUST have suitable insurance for such an action.

5.  In 3 and 4 the person owning the karts has a "DUTY OF CARE" to those who use the kart, insurance is required.  

Additional Information

A two part silencing system must be used or, with a single expansion chamber known as a Vevey exhaust (used on two strokes, it has a VW chrome end piece) this must be fitted with an end cap (available at the circuit on Wednesday or Saturday test days) or from kart shops.  The driver must wear, a helmet (motorcycle specification is permitted on test days), a race suit, and gloves.
