EVEN MORE About Test Days

Due to the very full practice on a test Saturday we are no longer allowing drivers who are not running on the Sunday.  Additional drivers mean overfull grids and far less testing for those who give us their support by racing with us.  The club on a Saturday is for our racers!

Further details of Wednesday and Saturday practice will be found under TEST DAYS and RACE DAYS

NEW  The committee have decided that members may apply for vacant Saturday test spaces by filling in and sending a race entry form but marking it TEST DAY.  IF test day spaces are available the applicant will be informed the acceptance being on a first come first served basis

New Procedures for FINALS?

The committee have been looking in to ensuring the race finals are not over compensated when adverse weather attacks a race day!  To prevent events going on for ever the C of C has to make a judgment on how long the finals should last for a sensible meeting finish time.  This procedure is a bit hit or miss so we are moving from the June meeting to the following, subject to members approval.

From June the finals will be based upon TIME, racing being for a specific time plus 1 lap.  What will this mean?  For example a 14 lap final would last today for 15 minutes circuit time, in the dry.  Under the new scheme the replacement final may be set up as 12 minutes plus 1 lap.  This would mean up to 17 laps on a good day or 12 laps on a very wet day.  What do you think?  Also variations in weather conditions would be compensated,  such that every class would be on circuit for the same amount of time but possibly different numbers of laps being covered.  During the races the lap countdown will be used to inform the drivers of the remaining time in the race.  NOT HAPPY then please make representation to a committee member.

Committee Members for 2008

Mark Brand, Steve Chapman, Rita Chapman, Dave Porter, John Gosling (177 representative), Keith Smith (marshals' representative), Peter Wilkins, Richard Walker (junior drivers' representative),  Nathan Ward (senior driver's representative), Carl Ward and Dan Parker (representing the circuit owners).

Remember the Brazilian CUP

This meeting is totally different to a normal run of the mill (pun) race meetings you attend round the country.  Depending upon the number of classes each class will have timed practice plus an absolute minimum of 2 X 15 minute races plus a lap, much more if we can squeeze it in?  This means a minimum of 21 laps per race (22km or 13.5 miles) for all but the Cadets and even the Cadets will be totting up towards 18kms or more than 11 miles.

The down side is we can only run a maximum of 30 drivers per class so early entry is important.  Entry forms are found here.

The date - testing Saturday 31st May racing on the Sunday 1st June

An Amazing and Fantastic Donation

We have been given an amazing picture from Club member Craig Johnson and his father, this we are going to auction at the Brazilian Cup Meeting for the Brazilian Charity!

We have a print of a painting by Alan Fearnley, number 495 of 850, showing Rubens Barrichello on his way to the first ever podium finish on behalf of Jordan Racing.  It is signed by both Rubens and Eddie.  We already have a £250 bid!
