Whilton Mill Kart Club Ace & King Meeting

Supplementary Regulations 2008

  1.       The WHILTON MILL KART CLUB (WMKC) will organise a Clubman permit kart race meeting at the Whilton Mill Circuit, as per these regulations and the regulations of the event, on June 28th & 29th 2008. Under the MSA Clubman's Permit No. *******.

  2.         Held under the General Regulations of the Royal Automobile Club Motor Sports Association Ltd (incorporating the provisions  of the International Sporting Code of the FIA) and the Supplementary Regulations.

  3.       The event is open to selected members of the WMKC and invited ABkC clubs, Bayford Meadow, Buckmore Park,  Camberley, Forest Edge, Hoddesdon, Hunts, Kent, Lincs, Manchester & Buxton, Rissington, Shenington, South Yorkshire, Warden Law and Dunkeswell who hold an MSA licence & ABkC club membership card.   Drivers with championship numbers 0 to 15 or other sacred numbers are not permitted to enter in that class.

  4.        The program times are as follows: SATURDAY  Signing on 8-00am.  Drivers Briefing 9-30am .  Safety Scrutineering on the grid with testing from 10-00am.  Race Scrutineering from 1-00pm Timed Practice from 3-00pm.  SUNDAY Signing on and Scrutineering from 8-00am.  Drivers Briefing  9-00am, Practice 9-20am.  First race 10-15am, (all these times are approximate) Racing must be completed by 6-00pm. Should a driver fail to sign on by 9-00am an official reserve will be included in his/her place.

  5.        The event will consist for each class of timed practice on the Saturday afternoon, on Sunday two heats of 6/8 laps, grid positions by the timed practice, and  two finals of 10/15 minutes plus a lap (at the discretion of the Clerk of Course) except when notified in the Regulations of the Event.  Lap scoring will be by means of transponders. Points from the heats will set the grid for the Pre final, the points scheme being, 32, 30,29, 28, 27, 26 etc.  The main final will be the finishing order of the first final the competition being decided by the results of the main final

  6.     Members of Camberley Kart Club who are unable to attend timed practice on the Saturday will be given mid grid positions for the heats.

  7.      The track measures 1120 metres and the number of corners are 13, the surface is tarmac and the track licence number is tba. Races will be organised for Comer, WTP and Honda Cadets, Junior TKM, TKM Extreme, Mini Max, Junior Rotax, Rotax Max and Rotax 177 under the regulations that will be found in the 2008 MSA Kart Race Yearbook.

  8.        Entries will be limited to one grid per class. The maximum entry is 270 drivers; the minimum number of starters for each race is 10. The organisers reserve the right to cancel or amalgamate classes.

  9.         All drivers may take part in three practice session on the Saturday morning and a carb test session of three laps on the Sunday morning, at the discretion of the Clerk of Course.  On this circuit the start line also acts as the pushers Safety Line. Transponders MUST be fitted during these practice sessions.

  10.         Four number plates are required, one each at front, rear and either side, numbers will be provided by Whilton Mill. Kart Club each team having the same pair of numbers so that will be easily recognised .

  11.      The hard standing Pits will be available on a first come first served basis.  Other than direct drive karts engines may be started in the pits but not run at any revs other then tickover - failure to follow these instructions will result in exclusion from the meeting.

  12.      Judges of fact will be - the chief lap scorer (judging laps completed), the Start/Finish Line Official (judging jump-starts and finishing order), the Chief Scrutineer (on technical matters) and the noise official (judging kart sound levels). Drive by sound level tests will be carried out at the point designated on the track diagram by overhead microphone at a height of 3.6 metres plus or minus 0.1 metres.

  13.      All karts must be fitted with a TranX l6O transponder provided by the entrant prior to scrutineering.  This must be fitted in accordance with MSA Kart Race Yearbook Appendix 4 Section F.  It is the responsibility of the driver to ensure that the transponder is working correctly.

  14.      Two engines and one chassis may be scrutineered for use during the meeting.  Prior to the first race commencing a driver may substitute an engine and or chassis after obtaining the permission of the Clerk of Course.  Should a chassis become damaged beyond repair at the discretion of the Clerk of Course a second chassis may be permitted.

  15.      Trained Junior Incident Marshals may be allowed on the circuit at the discretion of the Clerk of Course, they must be signed on and wearing a tabard.  They must obey directions from the Clerk of Course and they must always stand in a designated area. 

  16.      Prizes will be awarded to the winning club – a Perpetual Trophy plus a trophy for each team member.  To the winning driver in each class a Perpetual Trophy as well as a personal trophy. The winning club will have the highest total of points from their 2 drivers in their best 5 classes in the finals, or 6 classes should there be a tie and so on if further ties.

  17.      A driver leaving the circuit and missing out more than a few metres of the circuit will be penalised by 10 seconds.

  18.      Entries open on publication of the WMKC calendar. Entries close ONE WEEK PRIOR to the meeting however the Comp Sec reserves the right to add drivers if grids are not full. Entries should be sent to Rita Chapman, 23 Foxglove Close, Castle Meadow, Buckingham MK18 1FU.  The entry fee is £80 for testing and racing. Drivers NOT attending Saturday the fee will be £45 An administration fee of £10 will be charged for a cheque returned by the bank for any reason.  Entries will be selected by date of receipt, but entries may be refused if the class desired is full (see 8.).  An entry fee will be returned on receipt of a written request before the closing date.

  19.      Should a driver cancel his/her entry after the closing date an administration fee of £10 will be deducted.

  20.      The stewards of the meeting will be from Mrs. H. Barker and Mr. P. Cartwright.   The Clerks of Course will be from Steve Chapman, Peter Cox, Keith Smith and Roger Allen.  The Competition Secretary will be Rita Chapman and the Chief Scrutineer will be Dick Newton.

  21.      Provisional results will be displayed on the notice board in race control as soon as possible after the completion of a race. Rule [C(d)] 48. applies.

  22.      Protests and appeals must be made in accordance with MSA Year Book Section [C(d)] and with the appropriate fee Appendix 3 in Competitors & Officials Yearbook.

  23.      If any DRIVER is suspected of having illegal fuel/equipment the race results will be declared provisional.  Following an approved MSA test where the fuel/equipment is found to be illegal the DRIVER will be excluded from the results and the test fees are payable by the driver.  A driver excluded by this means for the contravention of K134 will be banned from all ABkC events for a period of one year, Kart Race Yearbook B19.

  24.      Tyres - Only ONE set of slick tyres will be allowed once timed practice commences.  Tyre tests may be made at any time during the meeting, karts that carry tyres that differ from other competitors when tested may be required to change their tyres to those that do conform. A60(g).  The regulation A60(k) may be brought into play.

  25.      Should a race start be aborted on two consecutive occasions through excess speed or alignment problems the Clerk of Course may move one or both of the front two drivers to the rear of the grid or continue with the race and apply a five place penalty on these drivers.

  26.     Only karts and kart trolleys are allowed on the dummy grid or in the scrutineering area, no other wheeled vehicles are permitted.  Bicycles, skate boards, roller blades and scooters are not permitted to be used in any part of the pit area during practice or racing.  Motorised vehicles are not allowed on the circuit when racing or testing is complete.

  27.    The area outside the confines of the circuit fencing is out of bounds, that includes the farm buildings, the corporate track, and areas beyond the lower gate and the Mill stream.  You are reminded that the conduct of all your group will fall back on your driver should problems occur.  

  28.   Persons who do not hold a full car driving licence are not permitted to drive a road vehicle anywhere within the circuit confines

  29.     Parents/guardians who do not desire the photographer to photograph their children should make their wishes know to the photographer.
